Torsion Springs

As the name implies, torsion springs offer resistance to externally applied loads when ends are rotated. Springs of this type reduce in diameter and increase in body length as these rotational loads are applied. This is critical in the design of the supporting rod and when considering how ends are captured.

As shown here, torsion springs come in many configurations and sizes including double torsions and torsion springs with space between coils. This space works to reduce friction between coils. Marik Spring manufactures a variety of torsion and double torsion springs in wire sizes from 0.15" to 0.625".
