In a medical facility, privacy is a main concern. Working Walls modified an existing panel system in a VA Medical Center with a partition-to-ceiling enclosure to ensure that conversations will not be overheard in adjoining office space. The PC-2 enclosure offered the facility noise reduction without the cost of new floor-to-ceiling panels or drywall, and installation was completed with ease.
The PC-2 panels were fabricated using 6-7 PCF fiberglass and 25 PCF mineral fiberboard that was framed in hardboard and then covered with customer-supplied fabric to match existing panels. The panels measured 1 ½ inches thick, 24-60 inches long, and they met Class A fire ratings. Noise reduction coefficients measured .80 on the fiberglass side and .35 on the fiberboard side. The sound transmission class of this system was 25.
