Description
Extension springs are closed wound, usually with initial tension, and offer resistance to a pulling force. This initial tension holds coils tightly together. A measure of this initial tension is that force required to begin separation of the coils. Many configurations exist for the ends of extension springs. These are often a critical aspect to extension spring design to reduce risk of hook failure.
Knowing your initial tension requirements, maximum extended length, load as well as geometry limitations, starts us off on the design process. Marik Spring's capabilities in handling wire diameters for extension springs is slightly more limited than for compression springs... 0.15" to 0.500" diameter wires.
